In January 2006 I became close with Laura and her then boyfriend (now fiance) Danny Daneau. I was living in Los Angeles and working as a PA for Paramount. I began talking to Danny and Laura about the program they were in at the University of Central Florida where they were required to make a feature film in order to receive their MFA.
I told them that if I could help them with their films in any way that I would love to even though I was 2500 miles away. Both of them immediately brought me on as their producer. We would video chat and talk on the phone nearly every day for the duration of 2006. I began working on HBO’s Entourage where I put in at least 12 hours a day and emailed and IM’d with Danny and Laura all day. I did not see Laura until the winter of 2006 when I came to Florida for Christmas vacation and a quick location scout of a location that we ultimately could not shoot in.
In the spring of 2007, a good friend and co-worker of mine, Erica Silverman joined our team as our casting director. Erica began submitting the script (then called Baker) to many agents and managers all around Los Angeles and New York. Part three will deal with our casting process.
